I've spent a lot of time as a student so I get the challenges of figuring out how to figure it out in courses. I have a Bachelors in Biology/Chemistry from Vanderbilt, a Masters (human immunology) from University of Georgia, along with all the coursework for certification as a high school science teacher, and finally a Masters in Nursing from University of Tampa. I even went to SPC for my ASN back when it was SPJC.

I've done research in plant pathology and in human immunology as a bench scientist. Those were fun, but my passion is helping others on their learning journeys to become what they want to become. So… I've been teaching at SPC since 1994 (yep - almost forever). I have taught at the University of Georgia, as well as high school science, but SPC is my happy place because we have a wonderful diversity of students to keep things interesting. Courses I've taught include Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and Pharmacology. I've also been a full-time tutor at the New Initiative Program at the Health Education Center, so am familiar with the requirements and rigors of the various health science programs.

In addition to teaching for SPC, I am an RN - as a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner (a mouthful so NPD is easier) - with BayCare. I worked at the bedside on a cardiovascular progressive care unit before transitioning to the NPD role. It's a wonderful combination of clinical and education roles.

In my spare time, I love reading, camping (yes - in a tent, cooking on a fire, either with a canoe/kayak or in the mountains on horseback), and spending time with those who matter to me. I have two dogs, one cockatiel, a freshwater fish tank… and one husband who has put up with me and my nonsense for a very long time.
