I am a computer science educator who enjoys helping students see that computing does not have to be intimidating. One of my favorite parts of teaching is taking a concept that initially seems complicated and connecting it to something students already understand from everyday life. I have found that once students understand the idea behind the code, learning the syntax becomes much easier.
My teaching experience includes programming, database management, data science, and computing ethics. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with students from many different backgrounds and levels of experience. This has shaped the way I teach and reinforced my belief that there is no single approach that works for every student. I try to create a classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning through practice.
Alongside teaching computer science, I am completing my doctoral studies in Educational Leadership and Higher Education at St. Cloud State University. My academic interests bring together technology, education, student learning, and educational opportunity. I am especially interested in understanding how teaching practices can make difficult subjects more accessible and how education can create meaningful opportunities for students.
What I enjoy most about being an educator is seeing the moment when something finally “clicks” for a student. Whether I am teaching a student who is writing their first program or working with someone preparing for a career in technology, my goal is the same: to help them understand what they are learning, build confidence in their abilities, and recognize how they can use those skills beyond the classroom.
