Dr. Applegate is a dedicated educator and accomplished professional with over 30 years of experience in public accounting, including 15 years operating a successful accounting practice. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas, a Master’s in Taxation from Villanova University, and a Doctorate in Higher Education and Learning from Gwynedd Mercy University. Dr. Applegate is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (Pennsylvania) and a licensed Certified Financial Planner, bringing real-world insight and practical expertise into the classroom. Her teaching is grounded in evidence-based methods and supported by an ACUE Certificate in the Effective Teaching Practice Framework. A passionate advocate for student learning and academic excellence, Dr. Applegate was honored with the 2025 NISOD Excellence Award and the 2025 SPC Outstanding Faculty Award. She remains committed to preparing students for success in the accounting and financial professions through engaging instruction and mentorship.
