As an Adjunct Mathematics Professor at St. Petersburg College, I teach online while also maintaining a full-time career as a Marketing Research Analyst. Students often ask, particularly in Algebra, “When am I ever going to use this?” My response is that they already use mathematical thinking every day—often without realizing it—while shopping, driving, baking, or planning a personal budget. I can also clearly state that the skills and logic associated with Mathematics are a critical part of my professional career.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Auburn University and my Master of Business Administration from Florida State University. Throughout my education, career, and teaching experience, I have learned that many students fear Mathematics and Analytics. My goal is to help students build confidence and recognize that the seemingly abstract concepts taught in Algebra are not so different from the problem-solving activities they complete in their daily lives.
