BIO
I lived in New England much of my adult life and still visit Summers in Massachusetts and Maine enjoying outdoor activities. Having spent my entire career in higher education, I started at Baltimore’s flagship community college teaching Philosophy and later went to Yavapai College in Arizona to chair the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. It is there that I also became Director of Liberal Arts Advising/Transfer and Dean of Liberal Arts. Moving east to Massachusetts, I was the Dean of Registration Services where I oversaw the implementation of the SIS (student info systems) and the subsequent overhaul of academic policy and catalog college wide. Retaining my professorship throughout, I developed several online and Face to Face courses while Chairing the Dept. of Humanities, Philosophy, and Fine Arts here at St. Petersburg College. Now I teach full time in Philosophy, World Religions, and Humanities teaching both Face to Face and Online while thoroughly enjoy both. For leisure and pleasure, I enjoy performing and playing music, hiking, traveling, the beach, and riding bicycles.
Online learning is the most exciting thing to change education in our lifetimes. It allows us to perfect our communication and self-discipline skills like no other. In the 21st century, both subject related knowledge (like Humanities) and tech related knowledge (like you get by taking online courses) is required. Whether you are a first time or veteran online student, I am here to help you enhance these skills. I look forward to working with you this semester. I go by the easy to type name “Dr. K”.
