Welcome and thank you for checking out my biography. I am an organized energetic person with diverse experiences and interests. As an educator experienced in traditional, online and hybrid learning, I enjoy all teaching modalities as well as creating new tools to help students become more successful in their studies. I am passionate about taking complicated topics and making them easy to understand and fun to learn. I also enjoy developing and improving curriculum. If I have the ability to make changes, I will make them! Teaching interests include business law, international business, management, and business communication.
In addition to being a lawyer and an educator, I am a licensed customs broker with over 25 years of experience working in international trade and compliance. Experience includes employment with a customs broker, U.S. Customs & Border Protection, Komatsu America and Northrop Grumman Ship Systems. I have created, organized and managed import compliance departments, directed cross-functional international compliance teams, developed training programs for import compliance and served as a trade compliance consultant to a variety of international corporations and law firms. I have written training programs, procedure manuals, a textbook, book chapter and online courses for international trade and general legal compliance. Writing is a passion that I have been neglecting but hope to enjoy again soon.
After spending most of my life in Tennessee, I have been a resident of Florida for 18 years where I enjoy long distance walking, dogs, disaster relief work, home improvement projects, audio books, volunteer activities, amateur radio and jigsaw puzzles.
