Karen Whitehurst is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Communications at St. Petersburg College’s Clearwater Campus. She brings 29 years of experience in secondary and post‑secondary English education to her teaching practice, specializing in literature, writing, and communication studies. Professor Whitehurst holds a B.A. in English from the University of South Florida, an M.A. in English from Southern New Hampshire University, an M.S. in Education Administration from the University of Scranton, and an Ed.S. in Education from Nova Southeastern University. Her academic preparation reflects a strong commitment to both English studies and educational leadership. Throughout her career, she has taught a wide range of English and communications courses and has contributed to the field through her publication with the United States Distance Learning Association. Her professional interests include literacy development, instructional design, distance learning, and enhancing student engagement through innovative teaching methods. Professor Whitehurst is dedicated to fostering clear communication, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for learning in all her students.
