John McFarland is an Adjunct Professor of Digital Media at St. Petersburg College and a Senior Graphic Designer with more than 16 years of professional experience in branding, visual communication, digital media, and design strategy. His work has supported organizations including Applebee’s, LEGO, Red Bull, Nashville International Airport, Marriott International, and HCA.

John brings real-world creative industry experience into the classroom, helping students connect design principles, digital tools, storytelling, critical thinking, and professional standards to practical career applications. He is also the author of Graphic Designer 2.0 and The Client Is Always Wrong, with current work focused on design ethics, accessibility, sustainability, and the future of design in an AI-influenced industry.
