Jamey Guzman is an award-winning composer, music editor, and producer. In her creative work, she is known to be a passionate storyteller dedicated to telling necessary underrepresented stories with experimental and innovative techniques; her music explores themes of identity, connection, and humanity. For her work in opera and musical theater, Jamey was named a 2025 recipient of the OPERA America Discovery Grant, and is currently producing telenovela-inspired, medical-drama-chamber-opera Open Heart Surgery. She has received major commissions from the Center for the Performing Arts, Really Spicy Opera, Opera Arlington, Strange Trace Opera, New Voices Opera, ENAEnsemble, Paradox Opera, SONIT, and the Sociedad de Música de Cámara de El Salvador. A performer’s composer, her music has been championed by musicians across the country, including Nightingale Opera Theatre’s Young Artist Program, Kansas City Opera’s Come as You Are, and Sparks and Wiry Cries’ Chicago and Bloomington SongSlams; her music has been heard on stages from Los Angeles to Madagascar to Paris to El Salvador. Jamey’s work in film scoring was recognized with a 2024 Jon Vickers Scoring Award, and her score to Pack (2026) for Film Independent is currently playing at festivals across the country. As the lead score producer for Indiana University's Scoring for Visual Media department, she served as assistant music editor for dozens of films, mentored Master's film composition students in their craft, and produced hours of cues from the booth. A passionate music educator, Jamey has held faculty positions with the Jacobs Composition Academy, the Jupiter Opera Development Foundation, and Cazadero Music Camp, and taught most recently for Indiana University's Music Scoring for Visual Media department before joining SPC's MIRA program in Fall 2026.
