Aymee Laurain, a native of St. Petersburg, Florida, graduated from St. Petersburg High in 2001 before joining the Air Force. She served as an Elite Guard at STRATCOM in Nebraska and as a Military Working Dog Handler/Trainer in South Carolina, earning an associate’s degree in criminal justice during her service. In 2006, Aymee left the military to pursue her passion for biology at St. Petersburg College, becoming a first‑generation college graduate when she completed her B.S. in 2020. She co-founded Imagine Our Florida, Inc., an environmental education non-profit in 2016. In 2017 she became a part of the South-Central Bear Stakeholder Group with Florida Fish and Wildlife. In January 2022, she began working at the Seminole campus as an instructional support specialist in science. Aymee started her master's program at Unity Environmental University in 2023 and in 2025 she graduated with her Master of Professional Science in Wildlife Conservation. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, making compound gin and wine, wildlife photography, native plant gardening, hiking, listening to science podcasts and music, watching anime, going to museums or performances, reading, watching the bats in her two bat houses, and spending time with her husband and two cats. Aymee also published the virtual tour of the St. Petersburg College Seminole Campus Natural Spaces. This project focuses on key points of interest within the natural spaces and expands upon the topics, relating them to larger local and global issues. https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/9daa0eaa67684a39b76ea8e10f49ca4e
