Hi Gang, The following is an informal introduction of myself that will provide you with brief background about me and how passionate I am about developing students/people's public speaking skill sets that will carry them throughout their lives. I truly love what I do and have a vested interest in you and your career success moving forward. Currently I am a Tenured full-time Professor at Hillsborough Community College for 16 years. My formal teaching experience has been in Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Communication, Small Group Communication, Effective Professional Communication, other Communication Studies and General Education courses for over 16 years at several places: I began as a grad student at The University of Dubuque in Iowa where I earned my Masters of Arts in Communication (M.A.C) Degree. Additionally, I have taught courses at the University of South Carolina, Hillsborough Community College, University of Dubuque, Northern New Mexico College, Central Ohio Technical College, and Columbus State Community College. Before officially entering the class room I served as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Northern New Mexico College, outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico, the University of Dubuque in Iowa, Eastern University in Pennsylvania, and The Ohio State University-Newark Regional Campus, in Newark, Ohio. In addition, I have served as the Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Lewis University, Chicago Illinois. I have coached women's basketball at the NCAA Division II, Division III and NJCAA Division I Junior College levels for over 16 years and served as a Head Women's Softball Coach at Eastern University and the University of Dubuque on the NCAA D-III Level for 4 years. Early on I received my Bachelors in Social Work Degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio where I spent the majority of my life growing up in the Midwest. However, I have traveled and lived overseas to countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Athens Greece, Paris France, London England, St. Andrews Scotland, Budapest Hungary, Rome Italy, and Hong Kong. I have lived here in Tampa, FL for the past ten years and hold a full tenured faculty position here at Hillsborough Community College. Recently I received the Dr. George M. Miller Excellence in Teaching Award, for the HCC South Shore Campus, as voted on by students, faculty and staff, in 2018. Additionally I received the 2018 Hillsborough Community College Exemplary Faculty Champion of Diversity in Teaching Award. (College Wide across all 5 HCC Campuses) I'm really looking forward to working with everyone this semester in this unique classroom format. I am here to help you achieve your goals in this class. I work hard and I expect that you do the same. It will be worth every bit of the effort that you put forth! Sincerely, Prof. Todd Huffman
