Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand. - Chinese Proverb My teaching philosophy: I believe that the role of a teacher has evolved and is more than that of imparting knowledge to their students. The role of a teacher especially in this knowledge-based economy is multi-facet and includes the role of an educator, mentor, facilitator, and critic. I like to be an advocate of continuous learning for my students. I try to promote critical thinking amongst my students (e.g. analyzing FRED data, engaging in-class and group discussions, etc.) to capture the essence of the lesson and engage the student into the collaborative classroom activity to hopefully retain the concepts. I constantly review and reflect on my teaching style and course content to better meet the expectations of my students. My ongoing plan is to keep myself up-to-date with new and better teaching skills and instructional development through feedback, evaluation and relatable professional development training courses and webinars. I also believe in bringing the world to the classroom via recent global news events and connecting the events to the macro and/or micro economic concepts covered in the course. Internationalization efforts in the classroom and curriculum help expose the students that the there is more in the world that unites us, than divides us :) Join me in this enlightening world of economics to engage in sense-making of the local and global events around us.......happy learning!
