I received my bachelor's degree in philosophy from The University of West Florida, my Master's degree in philosophy from Western Michigan University, and my philosophy PhD from the University of Staffordshire in England. My area of focus (specialization) throughout is in theoretical and applied ethics. My current research focuses on the moral philosophy of Michel Serres, as well as ethical issues related to technology. I also have interests in animal ethics and the philosophy of taste and food. When not busy with philosophy I spend time hanging out with my partner, Rhonda, and our three dogs. I also love playing hockey and watching too many sports on TV. I have an abiding passion for good food and wine acquired during years of professional restaurant work. Most former students would probably say that my class is both eye-opening and entertaining. I firmly believe that philosophical reflection is a key to freedom, expands the mind, and is a vital factor in a good life. While that all sounds serious, there's nothing to say that it can't be fun!
