Professor Carelock is a dedicated Criminal Justice educator who has been teaching since 2014, with appointments at Northern Virginia Community College and St. Petersburg College. Now just one class away from earning her doctorate, she brings not only academic expertise but also firsthand experience from her years in the United States Army, where she served as a military police officer and investigator. As an adjunct instructor, Professor Carelock is known for her approachable manner and genuine commitment to her students’ growth, guiding them through courses like Juvenile Justice, Community Policing, Homeland Security, and Organized Crime. Her teaching style blends focused, open discussion with an emphasis on creativity and critical thinking, using a mix of learning methods to connect classroom concepts to real-world events. Professor Carelock is passionate about preparing the next generation of criminal justice professionals to meet the field’s complex challenges with skill, insight, and resilience.
