Hello, I am Sharon Williams, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for the Communications Department. I enjoy empowering students to excel at their highest level of achievement. In fact, I have researched pedagogical approaches involving underprepared college students in active-learning strategies. I've taught at middle school, high school, technical school, and college levels. My pedagogical approach to teaching is grounded in the belief that all students may become lifelong learners. I enjoy reading and researching to apply best practices in the classroom. For example, Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) is to scaffold students by breaking down complex tasks into small, manageable steps to empower students to excel at their individual cognitive levels. I’m excited to teach in diverse modalities (face-to-face, live online, blended , and online). My teaching methodology is to engage students in the learning process. On a personal note, I enjoy baking cakes and cookies. In addition, I enjoy reading, walking, and listening to music. More importantly, I enjoy learning more about our students. EDUCATION: Ph.D., Barry University; Certificate of Community College Executive Leadership from University of Florida Institute of Higher Education and Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Foundations; M.Ed., University of South Florida; B.A., Louisiana Tech University.
