Dr. James G. Taylor, MBA, PhD Associate Professor of Finance Dr. Taylor brings over 30 years of finance and investment management experience to St. Petersburg College, where he teaches financial management and introductory finance courses. He holds a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of South Florida, an MBA in Finance from Duquesne University, a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from Carnegie Mellon University, and a B.S. in Management and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Taylor has held senior positions in portfolio management, enterprise risk management, and business development throughout his financial services career. His experience includes managing over $100 million in equity and fixed income portfolios, overseeing billion-dollar investment inventories, and serving as Director of Equities where he managed a large-cap growth equity portfolio that outperformed the S&P 500 during his tenure. He has extensive experience in quantitative risk analysis, financial advisory services, and institutional asset management. Dr. Taylor has served as an instructor and professor for over 20 years at multiple universities, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in finance, financial management, strategic management, and business ethics. His teaching philosophy emphasizes practical application of financial concepts and real-world case studies. He has worked extensively in financial services with major firms in roles spanning investment management, risk analysis, and business development. Dr. Taylor holds a FINRA Investment Advisor Representative License and is a past member of the CFA Institute and member of the Tampa Bay CFA Society. He combines extensive financial industry experience with academic expertise to provide students practical, real-world finance education.
