I am an SPC alumnus, having graduated from the MIRA (Music Industry/Recording Arts) program in 2013. I also hold a B.A. in music as well as an M.A. in journalism. My research thesis, “From Myspace to Multiplatform Use,” explored how psychological, social, and technological factors influence social media use. This involved an extensive critique of media theories and interviews of former Myspace users. I am fascinated by the relationship between media, us as individuals, and society as a whole and plan to conduct futher research in this area. Prior to joining SPC, I worked as an elementary art and music teacher and, most recently, as a Social Media Coordinator for a Fortune 200 Company. In that role, I was responsible for content creation and curation and aligning day-to-day activities with the organization’s vision and goals. MY proudest achievements were covering volunteer work at the Special Olympics USA Games and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (even though I'm a Saints fan). I love nothing more than seeing my students gain confidence in their writing abilities as they find their unique voice.
